Square peg, slightly-rectangular hole.

Books, Quotes, Work August 7th, 2007

Went back to work today. Reabsorbed by busyness within 10 minutes of arrival. Besides that, in the past few days, Dan and I have been reorganizing our <1000 square feet. Moving furniture around is similar to playing a big game of Tetris at the higher levels: perilous for digits. Was up north for the weekend so didn’t get any writing done, but I read a cool magazine article on cockroaches (apparently there’s a kind that likes to live on motherboards) and a good chunk of Peter S Beagle’s The Last Unicorn. Particularly enjoyed this:

“For only to a magician is the world forever fluid, infinitely mutable and eternally new. Only he knows the secret of change, only he knows truly that all things are crouched in eagerness to become something else, and it is from this universal tension that he draws his power.”

Oh, and in the past 48 hours I’ve watched eleven episodes of various reality TV shows. How’s that for ruining the magic?
