slightly tart, but still good

Life, Work, Writing September 9th, 2007

Baked a pie today, 95% successfully. Lemon Meringue.

Have been revising a story, taking it from short to short-short. Mostly reworking dialogue so that the people aren’t witty all the time. Tragic, I know. Hopefully I’ll have this version done by the end of the week, a plan made a little more challenging because I’m off to Montreal tomorrow night. The powers that be are letting me take the train instead of the plane – someone told someone else that I was scared to fly so close to September 11th, but that’s not true. I’m scared to fly all the time. Not really ‘scared’ though. Flying just makes me feel, how shall I put it, hmm, ‘viscerally disturbed’ is probably close to the truth. Anyway, whoo! Train! The train just feels more writer-ly. I bet Hemmingway would take the train. Though, I’m sure Via’s “comfort class” is probably something of a misnomer.

Also, today would have been my Mom’s birthday.

I think she would have liked the pie.
